The inspiration behind her song “EBUBEDIKE” is deeply personal and rooted in a profound season of loss and healing. The song was birthed during one of the most challenging periods of her life—when her father fell critically ill. At the time, she had just returned from an event at AIT where she received an award, only to be confronted with the devastating news of her father’s condition. Diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and given only five days to live by doctors, she refused to accept the report and chose instead to care for him personally.
Putting aside her career in music and media, she devoted herself entirely to nursing her father, extending his life beyond medical expectations. By God’s grace, she was able to relieve him of cancer pain for seven days. However, just when it seemed he was recovering, he passed away 48 hours after traveling back home from her residence. The loss left her deeply shattered. Having shared an incredibly close bond with her father—and both parents being central figures in her life—his passing created a profound emptiness. Within three years, she also lost her mother and a beloved brother, compounding her grief and sense of loss.
In the midst of this overwhelming sorrow, she encountered a divine comfort that transformed her pain. She recounts a moment where God reassured her, saying, “I am still your Father. I am a greater Father, and I will uphold and love you forever.” This revelation became a turning point, bringing healing and restoring her hope. Through every trial, she experienced God’s faithfulness in unexpected and powerful ways.
“EBUBEDIKE,” which means “Mighty Warrior” in Igbo, is therefore more than a song—it is a testimony. It is a declaration of God’s sovereignty, even in the face of death. The song serves as a constant reminder that despite losing loved ones, God remains powerful, faithful, and present. It affirms her belief that death does not have the final say, because Christ has conquered both death and the grave.
