The critically acclaimed gospel group from Zimbabwe, The Vine Music, begins the month of February on a powerful note with the release of both the audio and visual for their latest single, “Glory To His Name.” This soul-stirring track features a collaboration between The Vine’s founding director, Everton Mlalazi, and internationally renowned Grammy Award-winning gospel artist, Vashawn Mitchell. Together, they deliver a worship anthem that is not only musically rich but spiritually impactful.
“Glory To His Name” is a follow-up to The Vine’s recently released, star-studded project, “Great Is Thy Faithfulness,” which marks their 10th anniversary as a music ministry. This milestone project has been met with widespread acclaim and features a blend of seasoned gospel musicians, affirming The Vine’s place among the most influential gospel collectives in Southern Africa. The new single, though coming hot on the heels of this milestone release, carries a distinct sound—one that reignites the call to worship and invites listeners into a deeper relationship with God. With Vashawn Mitchell’s unmistakable voice adding texture and depth, the track is elevated into a transcendent worship experience.
For the past decade, The Vine Music has built a legacy of ushering believers into moments of genuine worship. Their impressive discography now includes four studio projects, each serving as a testament to their growth and consistency in delivering spiritually enriching music. Their January 2025 release, “Great Is Thy Faithfulness,” serves both as a celebration and a reflection on their journey so far.
At the heart of The Vine’s vision is Everton Mlalazi, who continues to lead the group with passion and purpose. As the founding director, Mlalazi has not only guided the group through years of successful musical endeavors but has also carved out an impressive solo career. His journey as a solo artist began during the COVID-19 pandemic, a time when many sought comfort and hope. During this period, he produced over 100 episodes of “Virtual Hymns,” which became a source of encouragement for many. He later released his debut solo album, “In His Presence,” in November 2020.
To date, Everton Mlalazi’s solo discography includes three albums, and he has collaborated with globally celebrated gospel artists such as Jekalyn Carr, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Janet Manyowa, and of course, Vashawn Mitchell. His leadership, both in The Vine and as a solo artist, continues to influence and inspire the gospel music scene across Africa and beyond.
