Deacon Efosa Unveils Debut Single "Super Power" – A Dynamic Afro-Fusion Gospel Anthem
Gospel music lovers and Afro-fusion fans are in for a treat as Efosa Odaro, better known as Deacon Efosa, releases his highly anticipated debut single, Super Power (also known as Power Pass Power). This energetic Afro-fusion gospel track, infused with Amapiano elements, promises to reshape the sound of contemporary gospel music and introduce a fresh, exciting voice to the genre.
Deacon Efosa is far from your typical gospel artist. His music blends vibrant African sounds with spiritual inspiration, delivering messages of hope and empowerment while maintaining a unique, genre-crossing style.
Efosa’s musical journey began in 2002 when he recorded his first song as an amateur in Badagry. Growing up, he was influenced by reggae and calypso music, with his uncle—who had a knack for rewriting lyrics to popular songs—serving as one of his earliest inspirations. While at Federal Government College, Efosa began re-imagining popular songs with his own lyrics and performing them at school events. He was also heavily influenced by artists like Tupac, initially focusing on secular music.
His passion for songwriting eventually led to his first official recorded track, which was sponsored by his aunt, marking the start of his music career. While studying at the University of Port Harcourt, Efosa teamed up with his friend J Money to form the group Big Boys, releasing an album titled That Kind Thing. Unfortunately, the project didn’t gain much traction due to production challenges, leading Efosa to step away from music in 2013.
During his time away from music, Efosa remained devoted to his faith and was ordained as a deacon at Christ Embassy, a ministry he had been part of since his teenage years. From 2013 to 2022, he focused on serving God. However, in 2024, everything changed. Efosa received a divine calling to return to music—not for fame, but to glorify God and share the gospel through his songs.
In December 2024, Efosa recorded a series of gospel tracks, with Super Power standing out as a powerful anthem. Inspired by the miraculous power and authority in the name of Jesus, Super Power celebrates the transformation, healing, and victories that come through faith. A key influence behind the song is Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s quarterly programs, where he showcases the power of the Holy Spirit in action.
With its irresistible Afro-fusion sound and infectious Amapiano rhythm, Super Power is a celebration of God’s power and the authority believers have in the name of Jesus. The song will have listeners dancing while also reminding them of God’s incredible ability to perform miracles—healing the sick, raising the dead, and transforming lives.
Super Power is now available on all major streaming platforms.
